Miami, FL (Jan 25, 2010) - Medimix International announced today the appointment of Joao Saraiva as Managing Director for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA). For this newly created function, Joao will be based in the Medimix offices in London and will be responsible for overseeing the activities of the company in Europe, as well as emerging markets of Middle East and Africa.
Joao Saraiva brings 25 years of comprehensive experience in global pharmaceutical research with a specialization in oncology (Takeda, Merck Serono, Chugai), as well as knowledge at the agency level. He was formerly Deputy Chief Operating Officer of InterCAM, which was subsequently merged with the Cegedim group. He brings extensive expertise in international healthcare marketing research, as well as sales force optimization, and product portfolio development.
Industry experts have advised that the challenge for the life sciences industry in 2010 and the years to come will be the need to move away from high-cost Western niche markets and to serve global mass markets at lower costs. Under Joao Saraiva, Medimix EMEA will move to meet this challenge and assert itself as a key player in improving global healthcare outcomes, assisting companies in this shift in thinking to make sure their products deliver real value in a more complex world.
